It'd been so long since Leonard had actually worked an evening shift, he didn't know what to do with himself. He was used to working days now, and he'd grown accustomed to sleeping each and every night beside Nyota. This was his job, though. Sometimes everyone had to make sacrifices to keep everything running smoothly and as Chief Medical Officer, it really was his responsibility to make sure the medical bay was in order 24 hours a day, seven days a week, so when M'Benga called in sick, he said goodnight to his girlfriend and headed over. Now he was sitting at his desk, bored out of his mind, and wishing he was still in Uhura's quarters, sleeping as usual.

When he got home, early that morning, it was around 0300 and he was exhausted. Something was different, though, when he walked into his quarters. It felt different and a few things had been moved. A smile spread across Leonard's lips as he looked into the bedroom to find the love of his life wrapped up in one of his shirts, on his bed, sleeping like a baby. He pulled his uniform off and slid into the bed behind her, curling one of his arms around her carefully as he pulled her back against his chest and whispered in her ear. "What a pleasant surprise..."
