Scotty had reached a point in his life where the prospect of settling down was simply not an option; whatever it was that he had with Jack right now was more or less the best he could hope for when it came to a relationship. And he was okay with that, because he didn't need someone to come home to every day; he needed someone who'd understand when the ship came first, someone who didn't mind going a bit without getting to see him.
