He didn't answer her, and she turned in a panic to the rest of the bridge crew. They'd picked up his shuttle on long range sensors, but transporters couldn't get a lock. When it became evident that he was heading for the shuttle bay Nyota stood up and fled the bridge. No one said a word of protest, but she wouldn't have listened even if they had. She had to get to John. She had to make sure he was all right.
When she tried to run into sickbay, Ensign Sanchez caught her by the arms. He was trying to explain something to her, but there was blood rushing in her ears and the words were hard to hear. "John. I need to get to John!" she screamed, struggling against the man's grip, but he held her back. Tears streamed down her cheeks as a nurse came to help Sanchez keep her away.
Finally the word "radiation" got through to her, and she sank to the ground, holding her stomach protectively. "Please... please tell me he's all right," she whispered.
