"Really?" he murmured. "I've seen four." And then he was resting his free hand on her arm as he led her over to the hosts. As a general rule, Jim didn't trust Lorians as far as he could throw them and the mistress of this house, he didn't trust as far as he could probably even shove her. Her husband was far from the brains of the opperation, but still no one Jim was going to have drinks with. Not by choice, anyway. This was necessity. This was duty. This was also bullshit and making Jim want to drop the act and just case the place. Somehow. He'd work it out if he weren't talking the peaceful approach.
"Ah, hello there, Mister and Missus...?"
Mister and Missus Spotted Before Jim Could Make The First Contact Himself, damnit. He gave a friendly smile. "Luvwig. I'm Jim and this is my wife, Nyota." It had been decided during talks that first names wouldn't affect much of anything. Not so long as there was no reason to connect the so-called Luvwigs to the Federation. Now, though, there was a moment of weird because he'd just refered to Nyota as his wife. And liked it in an oddly masochistic sort of way.
